The stage of the Folkloric Festival of Gjirokastra has turned into a true presenter of national values, folklore and traditions. Popular singers from different areas of the country as well as from the Albanians of Macedonia, Montenegro, etc. are conveying the best values of folklore, ethnography, etc., contributing, among other things, to their transmission to the younger generations. Popular artists, some of whom have performed several times on the festival stage, are excited about participating in this event.
“It is a great pleasure here in Gjirokastër to see all these people dressed in national, traditional costumes from all the regions of Albania. And this is a great pleasure for our nation and we, as a village from Gjormi, Vlora, who are coming for the first time, feel great pleasure for the folklore”, asserted a popular singer.
“I wish that everyone is satisfied and you are satisfied with the performance we have with the old song, we wish that all parts of the world are satisfied with our voice, the Albanian immigrants, wherever they are, it is a pleasure for everyone”, said one participant in the Gjirokastra festival.
“These are indescribable emotions and especially for us Albanians of Montenegro, who we come as in our country, because as you know we are far from the lands of our motherland and we preserve our cultures with great fanaticism, we use the characteristic clothing even at family events, at weddings, meaning that this is the best thing we can do to protect and show that we are people with culture”, said one of the popular artists.
“I’m definitely excited, it’s the sixth time I’m on the stage of the Gjirokastra festival, there are definitely emotions not only as an artist and as a group but also as an heir and I want to pass on to other generations this beautiful song that we have of our folklore”, said the well-known singer of the Himara group, Katina Beleri.
The 11th edition of the Gjirokastra National Folk Festival is organized in the period June 24-July 1 with the participation of about 1,200 folk artists from all over Albania.
