The illegal emigration of Albanians to Great Britain has also been accompanied by an increase in cases of human trafficking. 1452 possible victims of trafficking have been identified only in the first 3 months of 2023.
“What we see as a trend is the 18-32 age group. There are children among them, we don’t know the exact number, but we know that 200 children were lost last year. We know that about 200 children were lost in England last year and about 160 are not being found,” said Anxhela Bruçi from the Arais Foundation.
But who is considered a victim of trafficking who have been identified in London?
Victims of trafficking are those who have been exploited for prostitution, forced labor, working in brothels against their will and without being informed that this will be their work, illegal work, in which they are not paid for the work they do, they have no insurance and are used for work in England.
All these people who have been identified in London, based on the bilateral agreement with the Albanian state, are expected to return to reintegrate in Albania.
