The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has called on Serbia not to incite violence, after the hand grenade attack in front of the municipality in North Mitrovica.
Kurti, in a post he made on social networks, mentioned the risk of losing lives as a result of such actions.
“Last night, the municipal building in N. Mitrovica was attacked by 2 hand grenades, causing damage to nearby cars. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it could easily have happened. I call on Serbia to immediately stop the incitement to violence before they lose their lives” – he writes.
The municipal building in the north of Mitrovica was attacked with a hand grenade, last night in the late hours. The Kosovo Police confirms that there are no injuries, apart from the material damage caused to two official police cars.
Tensions there have increased since May 26, when the new Albanian mayors of the municipalities in the north – inhabited by a majority of Serbs – entered the municipal buildings of Zveçan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok.
