The Museum of “Testimony and Memory” remains one of the most important attractions of the identity of the city of Shkodra and as such continues to have a significant number of tourists.

The director of this museum, Pjerin Mirdita, says that the trend of tourists is increasing, while he emphasizes that mainly foreigners are the ones who express more interest.

Among the labyrinth that leads to the dark cells, we meet many tourists who are amazed by this museum and the more they know Albania, the more they want to know about this dark period of communism.

“I am interested in the history of Albania, specifically the period of the communist dictatorship, that is why I am here today to get information. What I find most interesting is the way Albanians see that time today. I am interested in how in the 1900s people were treated in the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha. It’s interesting, that’s why I’m here,” said the Italian.

“I was in Tirana before and on the way I stopped at the “Spaçi” prison and now I’m here. My grandfather was also imprisoned in Croatia, and that’s why I wanted to look closely at this situation, and the feelings they created for me are strong. We had very little information at that time about Albania and what was happening to the people at that time” – said the citizen from the USA.

Everything inside the dark cells of this museum has remained intact, offering visitors a chilling sight.

Earlier in this museum it was promised by Prime Minister Rama that there will be investments to turn it into one of the most important museums in the country.
