The port of Saranda serves as a key point for tourism in the coastal city. Thousands of vacationers arrive from Corfu to Saranda every year, while there are no shortage of day-trippers who also come by sea.
“The first 6 months of 2023 have marked an increase in entry and exit at the port by 17% more than the same period a year ago. Only 59,362 foreign citizens embarked in the port structures were registered”, said journalist Anxhela Lushkaj.
For the first half of this year, the passengers processed in total are 134,969, against 78,589 in the first 6 months of 2022.
Saranda has also become an anchoring bay for luxury yachts, sailing ships and cruises.
“281 yachts and sailboats have been registered for mooring in the Port of Saranda, for this year. 5 cruises have arrived for a one-day stay, while 12 more are expected to arrive by November”, said journalist Anxhela Lushkaj.
The flow of passengers to the port has caused the Saranda – Corfu travel companies to increase the number of cruises, going to 12 lines in total.
