Security expert and analyst Bedri Elezi stated in an interview with Euronews Albania that 19 people in the Western Balkan region, mainly from the political sphere, will soon be declared persona non grata by the United States.

Elezi mentioned that the list to be published will include politicians from Albania and Kosovo as well.

“The list continues to be published, and there are about 19 individuals expected to be declared persona non grata. It is believed that these individuals, including those from Kosovo and Albania, are mainly people involved in political life,” said Elezi.

He added that the designation of these individuals as undesirable by the United States follows a 5-year investigation conducted by Us intelligence services in the region.

He further explained that these individuals are considered as individuals who have undermined the relations of Western Balkan countries with the US Department of State, as well as threatened the security of the United States.

“We expect to have persona non grata individuals in Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia, and throughout the Balkans. This investigation was conducted over a period of approximately 5 years by the US administration and was carried out through intelligence services in the Balkans. Now these pieces of information have been processed, and the decision is to declare at least those individuals as undesirables for the United States, all those who have undermined relations with the United States, its security, or its interests in the Western Balkans,” said Elezi.
