The devaluation of the Euro currency and the fluctuation of the exchange rate has damaged export businesses in the country. The representatives of this business, in a meeting held on Tuesday, requested the urgent intervention of the government. According to them, there is no benefit from the country’s economy from the fluctuation of the exchange rate, except that it damages important economic sectors.

“If we do not find quick solutions, unfortunately we will have to resort to legal options, which means a request for compensation for losses. We all have contracts inside and outside the country, which force businesses to continue working, since if they stop working, they must return the money, this forces us to continue supplies”, said Alban Zusi, Head of the Association of Exporters.

Representatives of exporting businesses say that the government should hold meetings with them to find a solution. On the contrary, they warn of protests, since most of them are headed for bankruptcy.

“We appeal to the government that if it does not sit down and set a fixed course, we will soon empty in front of the prime minister in a protest just to show that the governor and the government must sit down and not let us fall into free fall. The most affected industry today is the medical industry,” said Filip Gjoka, head of the medicinal plants association.

For several months now, Euro has reached its historical minimum, being exchanged for around 102 Lek. This situation translates into direct losses for businesses that take products abroad. Monetary institutions have repeatedly stated that they cannot intervene in the exchange rate, which during the summer always fluctuates due to tourism.
