A shocking death trap was set in Evosmos in the early hours of Thursday, targeting a 37-year-old Albanian man as he returned to the apartment building on Vizyinou Street, where he resided.

According to local media reports, it was around 50 minutes past midnight on Wednesday when the 37-year-old was returning home alone. After parking his car, he headed towards the entrance of the apartment building, completely unaware that his assailants were lying in wait.

According to the latest information, the attackers fired multiple shots, with the police discovering four bullet casings and two bullets at the scene.

Officers from the Immediate Action Unit rushed to the location following a passerby’s call about the gunshots. They found the 37-year-old lying in a pool of blood on the sidewalk.

An ambulance from the National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB) immediately transported the Albanian man to the “AHEPA” hospital, where he tragically passed away shortly afterward.

According to reports, the victim sustained at least five gunshot wounds from the attackers.

Police sources cited by thestival.gr attribute the incident to a settling of scores between rival gangs involved in providing protection to the city’s nightlife establishments.

The investigation into the shooting incident in Evosmos has been undertaken by the Department of Homicide Crimes of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.
