Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama disclosed some of the new government projects, following a two-day meeting of his cabinet in Tepelena.
During a press conference, Prime Minister Rama said that the Socialist Party will start the new parliamentary session with a fresh impetus and an increase in government capacities.
“It is a rethinking and reorganization of the governing process in function of increasing efficiency, capacities to achieve faster results, and in function of the crucial moment in which Albania finds itself. The image of Albania has completely changed, what we see from within is an unimaginable growth, which just a few years ago, the interest of foreign investors. Let us make another leap to understand what new challenges this change brings before our eyes and how many things we need to make available for this change to take Albania to the top,” Rama declared.
The Prime Minister announced that a more profound reform in education will be undertaken to prepare for the new era created by technology.
“Albania can no longer consider the advantage of cheap labor; it is no longer the case today. We have talked about another reform that needs to start in education to further deepen a process where we cannot be unprepared for this new era. Changes are happening within the world of technological developments.”
Prime Minister Rama also added that with the help of the artificial intelligence, the entire procurement process will be changed.
“We have talked about procurement; it is on a different level than it was before. They produce stress, injustice, and a significant part of people’s perception of the country. With artificial intelligence, we will completely change the procurement process.”
Furthermore, Rama said that the governmental portal e-Albania will be completely transformed and will communicate with citizens like ChatGPT.
“We are transforming e-Albania, which will communicate with citizens like ChatGPT. In this process, we will also introduce co-governance, and within a year, we will have a companion with voice and figure. E-Albania will not be just in writing. We will extend this process to other sectors as well.”
Prime Minister Rama said that a reform of artificial intelligence has also been initiated for the judiciary.
“It will inform the media and individuals, providing another instrument of another level for more objectivity. Many things are being prepared. They all require human resources. Increasing human resources is my main objective, and this meeting was in that sense.”
Prime Minister Rama also addressed the dismissal of Damian Gjiknuri from the position of Secretary General, arguing it is not related to the accusations of his involvement in the incinerator scandal. Instead, according to Rama, the removal of the entire executive secretariat is in line with the need to take the Socialist Party to another level.
“If we start by rumors or previous involvements of anyone, I don’t know who in this country can be safe without being smeared. While our relationship with justice has been made clear, the dismissal of the entire SP Secretariat has nothing to do with the speculations about Damian [Gjiknuri]. He has done his job well. Damian [Gjiknuri] has done his job well, as the results have spoken well for the Socialist Party. Speculations do not interest me. The relationship with justice in this party is completely separate,” said Rama.
However, according to the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, sustainable change in Albania can only come if Prime Minister Rama is removed as head of the government.
“The rethinking of governance starts with respect for the free vote, by removing the most corrupt and linked to organized crime head of government in Europe, by placing the corrupt before justice.
The makeup on the face of corruption does not change the reality of the misgovernment that citizens suffer every day. Today, Edi Rama is the leader of a parliamentary group that includes an internationally wanted fugitive of justice. Albanians seek a solution. The only solution is the removal of Edi Rama and holding him accountable for corruption and ties to organized crime,” wrote Bardhi on Facebook.
