Tried to traffic 1 ton of cannabis to Italy, Special Prosecutor takes 4 people to trial

The Special Prosecutor’s Office has completed the investigations and sent citizens Gregor (alias Ledion) Likaj, Arbër Saraseli, Saverjo Imeraj and Qemal Pekmezi to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.

These persons are accused of committing the criminal offenses of “Trafficking in narcotic substances”, committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, “Structured criminal group”, “Commitment of criminal offenses by a criminal organization or structured group criminal” as well as “Production and sale of narcotics”.

From the Special Anti-Corruption Structure investigations and the acts administered by the Italian justice authorities, it has emerged that on August 7, 2022, the four defendants, using boats with the inscriptions “Syri”, “Eljo”, “Open Space/Amantia”, precisely in transversal of the “Gjiri i Arushës”, about 13.4 miles from the coast, they carried out the transportation and trafficking of the amount of 153 packages, with a total weight of 992 kg of narcotics of the “Cannabis Sattiva” type, to the other sailing vessel called “Scarabeo “.

This vessel was seized by the police services of Guardia Di Finanza Italy, and inside it was seized the amount of 992 kg, narcotic substance of the type “Cannabis Sattiva”, trafficked by the defendants, and two Ukrainian citizens were arrested who were on the board of the sailing ship named “Scarabeo”.
