The head of the government, Edi Rama, has reacted regarding the outbreaks of fire in Albania.
In a post he made on social networks, Rama writes that 79 fires were deliberately set, while 55 of them were arson.
Rama informs that 62 perpetrators have been criminally prosecuted, while 20 arsonists are in prison.
“STATE POLICE is doing an admirable job of discovering and catching the perpetrators of the terrible crime of arson in forests, olive groves and green areas.
In 79 cases of arson during this year, 55 were cleared, with 62 perpetrators prosecuted.
20 arsonists are in prison custody, while the others are being prosecuted, but there is still a lack of full punishment, as a result of the scandalous and shamelessly irresponsible approach of some prosecutors and judges in the districts, who apparently have no homeland. There is no religion, no din and no faith, that restrains them in their crime of illegal indifference to a crime like setting fire to such a valuable property, which belongs to all the children of Albania, and to all of humanity.
With the changes we have made to the Penal Code in recent years, setting fire to forests is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and in the bowl of this evil stateless prosecutors, there are some that in the past years have announced that on such cases should not be taken criminal charges against arsonists.
I appeal to the bodies of the inspection of justice and the supervision of the activity of prosecutors and judges, not to take action against these individuals who are unworthy to serve the law of the Republic of Albania.
I also appeal to the prosecutors and judges who have the above-mentioned cases in their hands, to strictly apply the law and to give to God this wealth that has been passed down through the generations, which belongs to future generations, as well as to all of humanity” – writes Rama.
