Tuz Municipality in Montenegro will soon pay tribute to the Albanian national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti, as the Center for Albanian Studies and Publications has announced the placement of a statue in their town.
Nik Gjeloshaj, the Mayor of Tuz, expressed his enthusiasm through a social media post, emphasizing Skanderbeg’s significance as a guiding figure for the Albanian nation, a symbol of strength and courage, and an inspiration for unity and resistance among Albanians. The statue will be situated in the most scenic location in Malësia, at the heart of the town’s central square, which will be renamed “Skanderbeg Square” in his honor.
Gjeloshaj emphasized that this tribute not only respects the historical legacy of Skanderbeg but also signifies his relevance in shaping the region’s future and development.
The decision to erect the Skanderbeg statue was unanimously approved by the Tuz Municipal Council.
Nik Gjeloshaj further revealed that the realization of the monument would be a collaborative effort with the Albanian diaspora in Montenegro. Additionally, the project will be funded with support from the capital city of Albania, Tirana.
