The mesmerizing beauty of the Albanian Alps continues to allure travelers from all corners of the globe, making it a coveted year-round destination.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama recently took to social media to share captivating images of the Albanian Alps, praising them as among the most breathtaking in the world.
This year has witnessed a significant surge in visitors to this pristine mountain range. From January 1 to June 30, a total of 17,415 visitors explored the landscapes of the Alps, with 7,670 being local tourists and 9,845 coming from abroad.
The Albanian Alps encompass a treasure trove of natural wonders, including the Gashi River, the Valbona Valley, the Theth region, Vermosh, and Boga. With its diverse and contrasting terrain, traversed by valleys adorned with crystal-clear waters, gorges, and mountain passes that beckon you to delve deeper into nature, the Albanian Alps are truly a gem of unique value, not just for Albania but for the entire world.
Stretching along the northern course of the Drin River and the western flow of the Valbona River (a tributary of the Drin), the Albanian Alps occupy about 8% of the country’s territory. They are nestled in a geographically secluded position, connected to other regions of the country and neighboring territories by only a handful of roads, many of which are in a state of disrepair.
Within the Albanian Alps, you can distinguish distinct blocks, imposing mountain ranges, graceful mountain ridges, and captivating valleys that add to the region’s allure.
