The government in North Macedonia continues to seek the support of the Macedonian opposition for constitutional changes.

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia guarantees VMRO-DPMNE that with the resignations of the DUI ministers, their place in the Government is secure. As a condition, it requires the approval of constitutional amendments. VMRO-DPMNE repeats the position that the issue of constitutional changes is closed and that the resignations of DUI ministers are attempts to cover up the corrupt affairs within Ali Ahmeti’s party.

The outgoing Foreign Minister, Bujar Osmani, through a video speech, explained the content of the two parts of the Negotiating Framework.

According to him, the Agreement with Bulgaria is not in the special part of the framework, but in the general part on which EU member states do not vote. The government in North Macedonia has less than two weeks to find out whether or not it has the 80 votes needed for constitutional changes. The parliamentary session is scheduled for August 18.
