Falling inflation and the fall of the euro have caused foreign trade to bring in less lek. In July, exports cost 38 billion lek, about 4% less than last year.
Foreign trade has stalled. The devaluation of the euro and the slow pace of inflation have caused exports to fall in July for the fifth month in a row.
INSTAT data show that goods were sold abroad for 38 billion lek, decreasing by 4.0% compared to July last year and by 0.6% compared to June.
Meanwhile, imports have also decreased in July, where goods purchased abroad cost 71 billion lek, falling 13.6% over the course of 1 year.
The tables show that the decrease in exports was mainly influenced by construction materials, metals, shoes and wood. Meanwhile, the sale of electricity and food has had a positive effect.
In the month of July, the countries with which Albania had the biggest decrease in exports are Italy, Austria and the USA. Meanwhile, the countries with which exports have grown the most are Kosovo, Greece and the United Kingdom.
In the span of seven months, exports of goods reached the value of 272 billion lek, decreasing by 7.0%, compared to a year ago, while imports of goods reached the value of 509 billion lek, decreasing by 3.5%, compared to a year ago.
