A day before the start of the discussion in the Parliament of North Macedonia on constitutional changes, the Albanian opposition bloc demands the removal of the definition of the Albanian language as the language of 20% and the introduction of an amendment with which the cases of political corruption will never become obsolete.

The three leaders of the three Albanian political parties ask the speaker of the Parliament to immediately put to a vote the need to change the constitution to ascertain whether the government has 80 votes.

“We call on him not to hide behind baseless justifications, but to put in the procedure the amendments for the removal of the 20 percent offensive name for the Albanian language as well as the amendment against the obsolescence of political corruption cases. Inter-ethnic cohesion and the fight against corruption are also European principles and values, as well as the obligation for good neighborly relations,” said Afrim Gashi, chairman of Alternativa.

Despite the fact that they did not explicitly condition their vote for the constitutional changes, Bilall Kasami, Afrim Gashi and Izet Mejhiti said that they will demand early elections if the government does not have 80 votes.
