Kosovare Asllani sealed Sweden’s victory against Australia with a stunning goal in the second half, securing the third place in the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The soccer player from Kosovo fired from the corner of the 16-meter area to score for the double lead for Sweden, who won the bronze medal in the World Cup for the second time in a row.
Fridolina Rolfo had given Sweden the lead with a penalty goal in the first half.
Kosovare Asllani, 34 years old, is an Albanian from Kosovo. Her parents migrated to Sweden before the last war in Kosovo in 1998-99, where she was born.
She now plays for women’s soccer club AC Milan in Italy, and has played for Real Madrid in Spain and Manchester City in England.
Asllani, who visited Kosovo last year, in 2017 was declared the best soccer player of the year in Sweden.
Last year, she made history in women’s football, becoming the first woman to win the Golden Foot award in international women’s football.
This prestigious award is given to a footballer who has passed the age of 29 and has a strong personality and a successful international career.
