In the Assembly of North Macedonia, a session was held yesterday for the amendment of the Constitution, specifically for the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution.
However, the vote on the need to change the Constitution was postponed for a second moment, since the government did not have two-thirds of the necessary votes.
The agenda for the debate was voted by 70 votes in favor and 47 against.
Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski tried to convince the deputies for the last time to vote in favor of the constitutional changes. He emphasized that these changes have only one goal, the unblocking of the country’s European integration process.
Government and opposition MPs had different attitudes and demands. DUI deputy, Arbër Ademi, asked the deputies to vote in favor because, as he said, foreign services are trying to realize the dreams of the last century.
Halil Snopçe, from the Alliance for Albanians, told the MPs that just as the request for the amendment of the Constitution is being made, the change of “the language spoken by 20%, with the Albanian language” should also be requested.
For the vote on the need to change the Constitution, 80 deputies must vote. The Assembly has 10 days for this. Meanwhile, the Constitution has been amended 8 times so far.
