“The government has approved the measure of financial compensation for 9 beneficiaries of former political convicts. This decision is the proposal of the Ministry of Justice. This is the 30th decision of the government, for the compensation of former political prisoners of the communist regime, to guarantee their rights. Of the nine beneficiary subjects, seven are ex-convicts with long prison terms or solitary confinement in the pretrial detention center or in medical treatment. The other two subjects are capital punishment or executed without trial.

The decision of the government today has determined the amount of financial compensation and the beneficiary entities according to the assessment measure. Also discussed was the problem of handling some files of beneficial entities of the communist regime, which were taken to the Ministry of Justice outside the deadlines set by the law.

We have agreed that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, an estimate will be made of the cost of the state budget in relation to this issue,” said Manja.
