Russian Democratic Society organization announced that Serbian authorities have revoked the residence permit of Yevgeny Irzhansky, the Russian citizen who organized anti-war concerts and other cultural events in Serbia.

This is the latest in a series of decisions that authorities have taken against Russian émigrés who oppose the war.

Irzhansky, who has worked as an event organizer in Serbia since 2022, was recently granted a long-term residence permit in Serbia. His wife had received the same permission.

On August 28, he was invited to the Russian Foreign Ministry and questioned by a ministry employee regarding his activities as a concert organizer. The employee then left Irzhansky waiting and returned later to tell him that his residence permit had been revoked.

He was given no reason for the decision, but Irzhansky was given a letter to sign, which suggested he was a “threat to Serbia’s national security,” said Russian Democratic Society based in Belgrade.
