Fredi Beleri reacted through a post on Facebook, after the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the issue of his oath.
According to Beleri, there is no court decision that has overturned his request for special permission to take the oath. The court has said that this permit is the competence of the Director of the Penal IEVP where it is located.
“In two cases, the General Directorate of Prisons has expressed itself outside the 24-hour period provided for in the regulation, and in the last case it has not expressed itself at all, in order for me not to appeal the refusal in court. It is universally known that the Penal IEPP and the General Director of Prisons are nomenclature of the Council of Ministers in Albania and are not independent bodies of justice,” writes Beleri.
The elected mayor of Himara adds in his statement that in Albania there are several cases where deputies who have been in prison have received permission to go to the Albanian Parliament to vote on laws or to take the oath, recalling here Mark Frrokun and Azgan Haklajn.
“In this context, not giving permission to take the oath, I repeat, is a serious restriction of my constitutional rights and also an expression of an autocratic and illegal attitude directly from Prime Minister Rama, who cannot accept May 14 ‘vote’ against him.
Prime Minister Rama unfortunately continues to “supply” public opinion and Albania’s friends in the world with lies and misinformation regarding my arrest and also continues, through public statements, to exert pressure on the courts with proclamations and speeches unrelated to me personally and the media that have realistically reflected the facts and circumstances of the case in question,” writes Beleri, who with the argument that he will prove any misinformation, has also published the relevant documents that prove what he says.
