The death toll resulting from intense rainstorms that have swept through Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria has climbed to 14, following the discovery of seven more bodies by rescue teams in these three countries on Thursday.

In Turkey, near the border with Bulgaria, torrential rains led to the collapse of homes in a campsite, claiming the lives of at least five people, with three of the victims discovered on September 7. Search and rescue teams are currently scouring the area for a missing individual from this campsite.

Furthermore, two additional fatalities occurred in Istanbul as a result of the severe flooding that submerged hundreds of residences and offices in Turkey’s largest city.

The floods have wreaked havoc on more than 1,750 homes and businesses in Istanbul, according to the governor’s office.

In Greece, three people have lost their lives near the towns of Volos and Karditsa due to the flooding, and three individuals are still reported as missing.

Greek authorities have imposed traffic restrictions in Volos, the adjacent mountainous region of Pelion, and on Skiathos Island. In these areas, residents are grappling with power outages and a lack of drinking water. Traffic has also been halted in two central regions near Volos, as authorities anticipate that the storms will persist until Thursday afternoon.

In Bulgaria, the southern coastal areas along the Black Sea have been hit hard by the floods. The discovery of two individuals who had been reported missing in the sea on Thursday has raised the death toll to four.

Due to the flooding in Tsarevo, authorities have declared a state of emergency.

Many rivers in southern Bulgaria have overflowed, and numerous bridges have been destroyed, resulting in significant traffic disruptions.

Bulgaria’s Tourism Minister Zaritsa Dinkova has revealed that around 4,000 people in the southern part of the country have been affected by this natural catastrophe.
