Museum of Medieval Art this year had a high number of visitors who come from different countries of the European Union.

Director of this museum, Fjoralba Prifti, tells for Euronews that from January of this year until now, this museum has been visited by more than 20,000 foreign tourists, while only during the tourist season there have been nearly 13,000 visitors.

“It has been one of the best years in terms of the flow of tourists, the visitors have been many, we can count about 20,000 visitors from the beginning of January until now. We are still waiting for tourists, we hope that not only the summer season will be successful, but also the winter season,” said Fjoralba Prifti, Director of the Museum of Medieval Art.

As far as the museum of medieval art is concerned, there have been visitors from France, Spain, Germany, almost from all over Europe.

Although it is mid-September, foreign tourists continue to be numerous in this museum. The camera of Euronews Albania captured some Austrian tourists, who share their impressions.

“This was one of the best museums I’ve ever seen, I’m surprised, at the end of our trip to Albania we wanted to come here. We all come from Austria and we want to come back again”.

“I have been to many similar museums such as the one in Barcelona, ​​Romania, the Czech Republic, but here is a very special collection, the unique iconography, with such colors, it draws your attention.”

“I am very interested in this type of art because I myself am an Orthodox Christian and I have information about the history of icons. All these findings, icons, jewelry and everything else will stay in my mind” – say the citizens.

Museum of Medieval Art has more than 8,200 mainly cult objects, 6,400 of which are icons and 420 of which are on display for local and foreign visitors.
