Citizens of Kukes Municipality voted today to elect the new local mayor, after the dismissal of Safet Gjici, involved in a sexual scandal.

The voting process for the mayor of Kukës has finished.

Journalist Ardit Hoxha informs that compared to the month of May when the local elections were held, today’s participation was lower.

It is learned that 19,739 citizens (44.26%) went to the ballot boxes, where the candidates for the Kukës Municipality are Emri Vata from the “Together We Win” coalition and Albert Halilaj from the Socialist Party.

This time there were 4 thousand fewer voters. It is also known that there were no problems during the voting process.

The elections in the Municipality of Kukës come after the resignation of Safet Gjici from the post, after the publication of the video-scandal having sexual relations in the office with Alma Kaçi. Gjici is currently in prison.
