Germany’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, has commented on the situation in the north of Kosovo after Sunday’s attacks.
In an interview for a German media, he denied what Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, said that the terrorists were provoked by the Kosovo police.
“Vucic’s statement is wrong because I consider that it does not accurately to describe the main event of the past weekend. I must say that we are aware that such a description represents the opinion of a large part of the population in Serbia and of the majority of Serbs in Kosovo. We expect from them a true description of the event,” said Sarrazin.
Meanwhile, he described Sunday’s attack as criminal.
“The truth about the event, if we look at it separately, are completely opposite, between the description of the Albanians in Kosovo, the Serbs in Kosovo and those in Serbia. This perception increases the real risk of an de-escalation of the situation in the north,” added Sarrazin.
