The Kosovo Business Alliance has conducted and published a one-week study titled “7 days after the attack in the north and its impact on Kosovo’s economy”.

Agim Shahini, the President of the Kosovo Business Alliance (AKB), closely monitored the situation created by the recent attack aimed at destabilizing the constitutional and administrative order in Kosovo.

He emphasized that this large-scale terrorist attack aimed to gain control of vital points in north Kosovo and potentially establish a separate Serbian Republic within Kosovo.

Shahini praised the professionalism of the Kosovo Police, which managed to conclude the attack with minimal casualties, both on the side of the Kosovo Police and the terrorists from Serbia.

He highlighted the consequences of the attack on Kosovo’s economy, noting that it has caused concerns among citizens and foreign investors. The general consumption decreased by up to 4%, businesses saw a decrease in activity of up to 10%, and family tourist visits dropped by as much as 50%. Furthermore, the sale of real estate properties and businesses fell by 50%, mortgage payments increased by over 40%, and foreign investment interest in Kosovo dropped to 0% during the week of September 24-30.

Shahini emphasized that Kosovo suffered economic losses of around 20 million euros during this period, making it the biggest economic loser. He also pointed out that the attack aimed to damage Kosovo economically and that Serbia had played the role of a victim while secretly preparing for further destabilizing actions.

Mustafë Kadriaj, an economic expert, also participated in the discussion, stressing the importance of such economic assessments. He explained that Serbia’s goal is to economically harm Kosovo and that evaluating the economic situation is crucial.

Several days after the terrorist attack on September 24, the Kosovo Police continue their investigations in the mountainous area of Banjska in Zvecan. The attack resulted in the death of Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku, and during the clashes, three assailants were killed. Substantial amounts of weaponry were found in the area, including rocket-propelled grenades, firearms, and other military equipment.

The responsibility for the attacks in Banjska was claimed by Milan Radojičić, the former deputy chairman of the Serb List party.
