A serious event was reported to have happened in Tirana, where a 3-year-old child died as a result of receiving the wrong medication at the dentist.

The child was taken to a private clinic, for the adjustment of the teeth, while the dose of anesthesia is suspected to have caused the loss of the minor’s life.

“Specialists for Investigating Crimes of the Police Station No. 4 have referred the materials to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Tirana, for the citizen R. Xh., 70 years old, resident in Tirana, for the criminal offense “Negligent medicine”, after the citizen B. S. filed a complaint against the citizen R. Xh. carelessly treated in his private clinic, the 3-year-old son of citizen B.S., who after treatment in this clinic developed complications and after 3 days, he died in the hospital”, informs the police.

It was the father of the child, Guri Spahiu, who made the complaint to the police. He claimed that in the private clinic the child was given total anesthesia to make it possible to adjust the teeth. After completing the dental intervention at the clinic, Spahiu was asked to pick up the boy and take him to the apartment, recommending the medication he should take.

After they went to their house, the child started to feel bad. Concerned parents called the private clinic but no one answered. Seeing the condition of the child, they took him to the pediatric hospital, where the doctors, after seeing his condition they sent him to intensive care.

After all the minor could not survive and died. So the police have accompanied the dentist and are continuing the investigation to clarify the incident.
