Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, said in a statement to the media from Tirana that they are disappointed because EU has been shown to be one-sided in terms of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Gërvalla underlined that they want the process to be fair and take into account the interests of both parties.
“Kosovo President tried very hard to make the international community aware that we are entering the Balkans. We don’t have a favorite or non-favorite actor. It is true that confidence has been lost in relation to the current mediator, because the last course of negotiations have shown that the process is one-sided. We are not the ones who should tell the EU who it should keep and who it should not keep. What we want is a fair process and we want the interests of both parties to be taken into account. The process must be fair because only in this way can there be opportunities for good and long-term solutions,” she said.
Also, the Foreign Minister of Kosovo has opposed the positions of Prime Minister Rama regarding Kosovo. She spoke against a peace conference for Kosovo, since such conferences are held for objects and subjects that are known in the international arena.
Regarding Rama’s designation of the north of Kosovo as no man’s land, Gërvalla called for more measured statements regarding Kosovo.
“There is no need for peace conferences, they were held during the wars in the Balkans and then we saw that they did not bring any results. There is no need for such international conferences. Kosovo is not an object, Kosovo is a subject. Kosovo has its own subjectivity. As an equal subject of the international community, Kosovo participates in all multilateral talks. I urge that instead of reckless statements that create more problems than they solve, there should be coordination and a more honest conversation between our authorities, so that the ideas serve more to solve the situation than news production”, said Gërvalla.
