In 2019, investments amounted to 15.2 million euros. One year later, in 2020, investments surged to 39.8 million euros, followed by 50.4 million euros in 2021 and a substantial increase to 79.7 million euros in the last year.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti highlighted a remarkable 136.5 percent increase in investments from Albania to Kosovo between 2019 and 2022 during his participation in the international scientific conference titled “Challenges and Perspectives of Economic Cooperation between Kosovo, Albania, and the Region”.

Expressing these values (2019: 15.2 million euros, 2020: 39.8 million euros, 2021: 50.4 million euros, and 2022: 79.7 million euros), Kurti stressed Kosovo’s aspiration to further boost these investments. He emphasized the commitment of Kosovo to be as welcoming as possible to businesses, capital, and consumers from Albania.

The Prime Minister noted the conference’s significance, describing it as one of the most natural and vital gatherings. He underlined that such cooperation is pivotal for relations not only between Kosovo and Albania but also for the broader Balkan region.

Regarding the cooperation between Kosovo and Albania, he pointed out that over the years, a total of 184 agreements, protocols, and memoranda have been signed. He highlighted the importance of agreements that directly impact the economic life of citizens and businesses, stating that these agreements have yielded tangible results.

Kurti extended his gratitude for the hospitality and attention extended during the conference, congratulating the organizers for their well-placed initiative. He emphasized that this event brings together ideas, studies, research, and valuable opinions to contribute constructively in a priority area for the region, namely the economy.

Recently, the Central Bank of Kosovo reported that by the end of July, direct investments had reached 443.3 million euros. Compared to the same period in 2022, this year witnessed a notable increase of 20 million euros in direct investments.

These investments have played a pivotal role in fostering economic ties between Kosovo and Albania. Kosovo, in particular, has emerged as a positive trade partner for Albania, with exports exceeding imports – a testament to the growing economic cooperation between the two nations.
