He was very young when he started writing stories and asked to be published in the newspapers of the time. Kostandin Vogli’s enthusiasm was short-lived, as his writings were backtracked for ideological errors.
“I started writing when I was a 20-year-old soldier, I wrote a story that was published in “Rinia”, and another story was published in “Luftëtari”, while the story that I took to “Rinia” was returned to me for ideological errors”,- said Kostandin Vogli, writer.
The fear of the black squads of the communist regime made Konstandin to stop writing even in secret. Until the advent of democracy, he says he had given up his old passion.
“How could I write at that time? If a friend came to watch, the lines of poetry or prose would then be analyzed. And then they would arrest you and put in jail. I didn’t even leave it in the drawers, I didn’t even think about writing. I had given up, I thought I would never write again in my life, but the change happened and that passion I had from the inside and the push from literature professors, write, write, write” – said Kostandin Vogli, writer.
But this obstacle did not stop Kostanini on the path to art. He found solace in painting. There he expressed himself and his ideologies for decades.
“Since I was repressed in literature, I could not write, so I started to paint. Many paintings, in exhibitions outside, here, in Tirana, so to speak, I found solace in paintings because there I was not too depressed, while in literature I counted the lines. In painting, when I composed something, I was not criticized, on the contrary, I received awards.”
Today he is 82 years old, he has published 12 books, he still has the pledge of the lost years, and yet he still believes that there is time to put weighty literary works on the market.
“My years lost in writing and not making literature, have brought me a great loss, a very great obstacle. They brought me back a long way. A person should have a goal to have a star that guides him and say I will achieve this thing. And I want to achieve something, maybe I can achieve it with the books I have published, I have received awards,” Kostandin Vogli, writer.
The 82-year-old writer from Saranda is the embodiment of not giving up on passions.
