2 people arrested trying to enter 176 thousand euros in Durrës’ port

The border police in the Port of Durrës have seized over 176 thousand euros, which were entering the Albanian territory undeclared.

Police said that they have arrested the two drivers of the bus where the amount of money and the goods that they tried to smuggle into Albania were found hidden.

“Following successive operations for the prevention and suppression of attempts to illegally introduce into Albania sums of money suspected to be derived from criminal activity, the specialists of the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Financial, in the Department of Criminal Police in the State Police, based on police intelligence, finalized the 5th phase of the police operation coded “Fluksi”. In cooperation with the Border Police of the port of Durres and with the customs authorities of this port, the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the State Police, passed for detailed control on the second line, the bus that came with the ferry line Bari-Durres , which was suspected of transporting a large amount of money and goods. During the detailed check, the Police services found hidden inside the bus and seized as material evidence: 176 190 euros, 500 dollars, 50 counterfeit euros, a package of double cartridges and a quantity of goods (hundreds of bottles of wine, drinks other alcoholic drinks and various goods)”, informed the police.

Following the actions, the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes in the State Police arrested the following citizens: A. A., 34 years old, resident of Berat and A. B., 51 years old, resident of Elbasan, both were the drivers of the bus where money and goods to be smuggled into Albania were hidden.
