Foreign trade in goods is shrinking. The data show that exports continued to decline in September, bringing less income to the country. In the ninth month of the year, exports cost 34 billion ALL, decreasing 13%, compared to the same period a year ago.
The deepening of the decrease in September has worsened the performance for the whole year. According to INSTAT, in this 9-month period, exports of goods reached the value of 333 billion ALL, decreasing by 9% compared to a year ago.
Indicators in September are not positive and together with the drop in August, they reflect in numbers, the statistics of 2020, when exporters suffered more than all, the consequences of the pandemic.
All commodity groups have recorded a decrease, with the exception of plastics and chemical products, which do not have any significant weight in the economy. Building materials, metals, shoes, but also food and machinery are goods that are creating difficulties in the local business chain.

In the month of August, the countries with which Albania had the biggest decrease in exports are Italy, Germany and Spain. Meanwhile, the countries with which exports have increased the most are Kosovo, Greece and China.
