Laert Haxhiu’s group, which is accused of at least 6 murders and 5 explosions with explosives, will be investigated by Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK).

Investigations were initially started by the Prosecutor’s Office of Elbasan after the testimony of Artan Tafani who cooperated with the justice system by disclosing a total of 18 criminal events, including the plan for the physical elimination of 2 female prosecutors, Doloreza Musabelliu and Merita Selimi.

According to the prosecution of Elbasan, the group of 16 people have acted as a criminal organization and a structured criminal group, so the investigations should be followed by the special structure against organized crime.

Artan Tafani was arrested three months after the robbery of an amount of 30 thousand euros at a currency exchange point in Tirana, while he was under investigation as being involved in the murder of Alban Semaku, also known as Elton Mermali, in October 2021 in Peqin.

Tafani told the police some of the murders and explosions with tritol that have shaken the country in the years 2018-2021 in Elbasan, Tirana, Lushnja, Tepelena, Korça and Durrës.

Laert Haxhiu, who is also considered the leader of the group, is under arrest in Greece, while a few days ago the appeals court gave a positive decision for his extradition to Albania.

In Albania, during the “Never Forget” operation, 12 people were arrested, while four others are still being sought.
