40 new magistrates have been appointed to duty in the courts of first instance in Albania.

They were sworn in this Friday in a ceremony organized by the Supreme Judicial Council.

The new magistrates are seen as a breather for a system with numerous vacancies due to vetting resignations.

With the 40 new magistrates, the number of judges goes to 270 out of about 400 that the system should have.
