The focal point of the meeting held between Albania’s Minister of Finance and Economy Ervin Mete and the Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy, David Wisner, was the deepening of economic cooperation between Albania and the U.S. and the further expansion of American investments in the country.
Minister Mete expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support from the United States in implementing a range of reforms in various sectors. This support includes financial assistance from USAID and expertise in several fields.
Also in attendance at the meeting was the Acting Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Mischere Kawas.
Minister Mete and Chargé d’Affaires Wisner expressed a shared interest in strengthening economic cooperation and trade relations between the two nations.
The Finance Minister highlighted the Albanian Government’s enthusiasm for the increased American investments in the country, particularly in key economic sectors.
The meeting also acknowledged the financial support provided by the U.S. Government through USAID. This assistance has been instrumental in areas such as energy, infrastructure, and agriculture, making a direct contribution to sustainable economic growth.
Since 1992, USAID has invested over 500 million dollars in Albania, offering support across various priority sectors. American companies have also shown significant interest in fields like energy and tourism, among others.
