European countries are often considered quite expensive when it comes to travel. Accommodation, food, sightseeing – it all adds up, and the prices are often not within everyone’s budget. However, it seems that there are destinations that are quite budget-friendly, especially in the fall. Travel off Path has compiled a list of excellent places to visit without breaking the bank.
Poland
Mountains, forests, and fairytale landscapes – that’s what Poland offers to its visitors. The country boasts beautiful scenery, including some of Europe’s oldest forests.
Poland’s capital, Warsaw, is the largest city in the country, rich in history and cultural attractions.
The country is accessible for tourists. For example, a coffee from a café, costs between 2 and 4 dollars, while a restaurant lunch will set you back between 4 and 8 dollars.
For a night in a “mid-range” hotel room, you’ll pay around 54 dollars per night.
Those less demanding can find hotel rooms for 20 dollars per night, while those who only accept five-star options should be prepared for prices reaching as high as 400 dollars per night.
Hungary
Hungary offers tourists a truly diverse “cultural menu”. Starting with its capital, Budapest, where Gothic architecture and ornate buildings delight the eye. The even better part is that you can visit this country at reasonable prices.
On average, a hotel room in Hungary costs 54 dollars per night, and a room in a luxury hotel will not exceed 100 dollars.
You can have a good meal for 10 dollars, and a coffee won’t be more than 1.50 dollars.
Latvia
Although not very popular among tourists, Latvia is considered one of the “hidden gems of Eastern Europe”. Besides the capital, Riga, the country has much more to offer.
From forests and beaches to Riga’s Central Market, the largest in Europe, Latvia is as accessible as it is welcoming.
Travelers who want to come here should know that a bottle of water costs about 70 cents, a beer at the bar is no more than 2.50 dollars, and a dinner for two won’t exceed 23 dollars.
A room in a “mid-range” hotel in Latvia will be around 64 dollars per night. If your budget is smaller, you can find rooms in 2 and 3-star hotels starting at 30 dollars per night.
Albania
One of the travel destinations promising the lowest prices for tourists is Albania. Like Greece and Italy, Albania boasts stunning beaches, which tourists can access for considerably less money.
The average price of a hotel room in Albania is 49 dollars. For a room in a five-star hotel, prepare to pay only 81 dollars per night.
A pint of beer will cost about 2 dollars, and a cappuccino or latte around 1.50 dollars. You can eat well in a simple restaurant for about 7 dollars.
