In Vlora, today a protest was held by civil society, activists and citizens to demand justice for the girl who was raped some days ago.
Before the Prosecution of the General Jurisdiction Vlora, in their messages, women and girls have emphasized the importance of the process of punishing the perpetrators and protecting the victim.
“Although it was not a large-scale protest, those who participated called for anyone who has been through such a situation to raise their voice, to demand justice,” said Brikena Puka, head of the “Vatra” psycho-social center.
The protesters demanded the protection of the 26-year-old girl.
“Violence against women and girls today is considered a silent pandemic throughout the world. I would appeal as a mother, as a sister to all mothers to educate their sons, because violence only brings injustice and Vlora is not like that, Albania is not like that. We women are worth it,” said one of the protesters.
Concerned parents also participated in the protest, calling for the education of generations.
“I am here today as a son, as a man, as a father, I am the father of a girl. I strongly believe that we as a society have the opportunity to educate our children, we have the opportunity to live in our country in a dignified manner in a peaceful way”, said a protester.
Earlier, the municipal council of Vlora requested the signing of a resolution against violence against women and girls. The protest also aims to awaken civic activism. Discriminatory language, prejudice and revictimization of victims of sexual violence must end.
