The head of the government of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, reported to the Assembly today what happened in Brussels a week ago and what he asked the EU leaders.
He emphasized that he requested that Serbia be sanctioned for the September 24 attack, so that the same thing does not happen again.
He further emphasized that he has asked the leaders of the EU to give Kosovo the status of a candidate country and for the other 5 countries to recognize Kosovo as an independent state.
“I asked for more security on the border between Kosovo and Serbia. I asked that Serbia be sanctioned for the attack on Kosovo, since impunity becomes an encouragement for repetition. The attack has come across the border. We don’t want a similar thing like what happened on September 24 to happen again.
I emphasized the democratic and economic progress of Kosovo and requested that we be given the status of a candidate country as soon as possible and that the 5 non-recognizing countries recognize the independence of Kosovo. Before the heads of the EU, as witnesses and as guarantors, we offered to sign the basic agreement of Brussels despite the implementing annex of Ohrid as well as the proposal for the implementation of Article 7 of the agreement in relation to Article 10 for the idea of management transformed into a proposal. The signature would mean acceptance and implementation,” said Kurti.
