In these autumn days, the museums in the city of Gjirokastra continue to welcome local and foreign tourists. Interest in visiting the “Kadare House” is expressed especially by local visitors, who are present in an organized way during the weekends in the house where Kadareja was born and spent his childhood.
“Since the students have read the writer’s novels, they were curious to see the house of Gjirokastra, the architecture, the style, the way of life, and they were really impressed with everything they saw here in this house”, said Brikena Kastrati, teacher.
The employees of the “Kadare” Museum describe the visitation during the autumn period by tourists as satisfactory, while distinguishing their impressions from getting to know the life and literary activity of Kadare.
“Rather, they are local visitors, what I want to emphasize are the school students who have not missed the “Kadare” Museum every weekend, as we had a school from Fieri today, but we also have foreign visitors who are still in the city of Gjirokastra, they visit the city and want to know everything about this city, also about the house where the luminary of Albanian letters was born, they come here and get all the necessary information”, said Bruno Pjetri.
Throughout this year, museums have served as important centers for the development of tourism in Gjirokastër, while the stone city has been visited by about 500,000 tourists.
