The new salary system for Albanian Electricity Distribution Operator (OSHEE) employees has come into effect this month, bringing about a roughly 30% increase in wages.
Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku announced this Monday that the wage reform in this sector has focused on fieldworkers, electricians, technicians, engineers, and bill collectors.
These individuals, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, also play a key role in revenue collection.
“The salary for electricians, which was previously 50,000 lek, will now increase to 70,000 lek. Additionally, all employees will benefit from the new calculation of work experience, based on the evaluation of those with more years of service,” explained Balluku.
The same scheme that was applied to the central administration in April of last year will be implemented.
It involves a 0.6% calculation for the first 10 years of work, 0.8% from the 10th to the 20th year, and 1% for the third decade of work.
Balluku also mentioned that there have been more than 270 job applications for 309 open positions. On October 19, she announced that there were job vacancies for young electricians. The age criterion of “not more than 25 years old” was introduced to encourage fresh, young talent to join the workforce, allowing the current employees, who have been working for many years, to pass down the torch. There are still a few days left until the competition is complete.
In the meeting with OSHEE employees, the Minister praised the reform and performance, recalling that the collections last month were 113%, while network losses have decreased to 18%.
