In the framework of the project “Book and Reading – measurements and evaluations”, – supported by the National Book and Reading Center, the organization conducted surveys in random groups of individuals and groups of readers during the period October 1-November 3, 2023.

Through this it was intended to assess the reading rate and other aspects related to reading habits, the way of reading, the budgets that readers spend every year, reading in different languages ​​and the impact of reading campaigns.

18% of respondents (52 people) stated that they do not read books. In the group of interviewees who do not read, 57% state that they do not have time, 33% prefer other media such as TV, newspapers or the Internet, 6% have no interest and only 2% justify not reading with financial impossibility.

Through this index, it is intended to bring ideas or recommendations through which the policies for the promotion of books and reading in Albania can be improved.
