The head of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, has held several meetings in Brussels, among them with the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.

He presented to Várhelyi the DP’s initiative for vetting in politics as well as the changes proposed for the electoral reform, while they also talked about the situation in Kosovo.

Full statement:

We discussed the situation in Kosovo, where I expressed concern about the Banjska incident, which was an attempt to apply the Crimea scenario and following Russia’s efforts to destabilize the region, a scenario which has spread to Bosnia and is threatening Montenegro.

The situation in the Middle East is another concern for the world today. The risk of the expansion of the conflict has somehow drawn attention from the war in Ukraine, from which Russia is benefiting.

I also had the opportunity to discuss with the Ukrainian delegation the resolution being discussed in the Council of Europe for the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is being awaited with special interest due to the extraordinary damage caused by Russian aggression.

One of the other issues of interest started also from the recent developments in our region, was the discussion about the multiple crises of the war at the gate of Europe and the possible scenarios for the consequences they have for the international order.
