The Albanian Government will assist 2,000 families who will install solar panels in their homes. This commitment is part of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s program, which covers more than half the cost of the installed panel, serving for water heating.
The initiative is part of the budget program for the year 2024 and has not yet been activated. However, a similar policy was undertaken last year.
There was significant interest last year, as such a panel significantly reduces costs on the electricity bill.
It is worth remembering that last year, applications were made through the eficenca.al website, and to qualify for the equipment, documents such as certificates, electricity bills, and mortgages were required.
Solar panels are sold for around 140,000 Albanian lek in the market, but citizens have paid 42,000 Albanian lek, with the remaining amount covered by the Government through one of the seven licensed service companies.
For the year 2024, there is no set date yet for the opening and closing of applications.
