A fire erupted on Tuesday morning in several offices of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina, Kosovo. The Kosovo Police reported no injuries in connection with the incident.
Firefighters were observed actively working to extinguish the flames at the scene.
The fire impacted various offices situated on the second floor of the Institute’s building, extending to parts of the roof above them.
According to the Kosovo Police, the fire was reported at 8:00 on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response. Firefighters successfully contained and localized the fire.
The cause of the fire within the Institute’s premises remains unknown at this time.
In response to the incident, the police have initiated an investigation to comprehensively examine the circumstances surrounding the event.
The Institute of Forensic Medicine is tasked with overseeing and upkeeping the country’s forensic medical system.
Its responsibilities include delivering forensic medical services, providing education, and offering support services to the families of missing persons.
Furthermore, the institute plays a crucial role in supplying forensic expertise to public authorities, leading forensic investigations for on-site deaths, conducting autopsies, and carrying out post-mortem inspections.
