In the electoral campaign for the December 17 elections in Serbia, Aleksandar Vučič returned to the topic of Kosovo. In the electoral speeches, he declares that the government of his party and he as president have not signed any act that recognizes Kosovo.
The political opponents of the Serbian Progressive Party led by Vučič accuse him, that with the policies he has followed, he has led to the recognition of Kosovo.
But Vučić declares that since he has been in power for 11 years, as prime minister and then as president, he has not released anything from Serbia’s sovereignty.
In his speech, Vučič also had a message addressed to the international community. He stated that: “After 11 years, we are asked to recognize Kosovo again. I tell them that we will never recognize Kosova and we will follow a careful policy”.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party, Milosh Vucevic, attacked the opposition, declaring that those who promise to protect Kosovo will recognize it in a short time and impose sanctions on Russia.
The parliamentary elections in Serbia have stopped the negotiation process between Kosovo and Serbia. The Serbian party that governs the country has toughened its tone towards internationals on the issue of Kosovo, in order not to allow a vote against the nationalist electorate.
