As the festive season approaches, holiday getaways emerge as the perfect choice for spending quality time with friends, family, or a significant other. Contrary to the perceived cold and rainy nature of November, it appears that Albanians have warmly embraced the idea of holiday travel.
Representatives from various travel agencies informed Monitor that bookings have met satisfactory levels, possibly reflecting Albanians’ eagerness to plan overseas trips, considering the extended five-day break.
Another agency revealed to Monitor that interest in searching for holiday destinations commenced early, predominantly leaning towards European locations and neighboring regions. Montenegro and Croatia emerged as favored choices.
Another travel agency noted a relatively lower interest in foreign travel, attributing it to the high accessibility provided by travel company applications, which have empowered people to independently plan their trips in recent years.
In alignment with this trend, travel preferences have predominantly focused on European destinations. Domestic interests near agencies primarily center around local accommodations, with destinations like Korça and Dardha standing out.
Yet another agency stated that Albania and its neighboring countries have been highly sought after in client communications, with Korça emerging as the most popular choice.
Concerning international travel, Italy takes the lead, particularly cities such as Verona, Milan, Naples, and Rome. Attractive tourist packages start from 99 euros per person for a 2-night, 3-day stay, including breakfast.
A glance at the official website of a low-cost flight operator reveals that flight tickets for November 25-29 to Italian cities range from 50-60 euros per person during early planning.
For spontaneous travelers opting for last-minute plans, prices have surged due to heightened demand. Rome and Milan, in particular, average between 300-400 euros per person for the same dates.
