All devices that consume energy will soon have a new label in the Albanian language, which will specify energy consumption, noise, or water consumption.
In order to bring this initiative to life, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has initiated the draft law “On the labeling of products with an impact on energy”, which has been in public consultation with experts and citizens for 2 weeks.
This law aims to put energy-efficient products on the market or in service and provide standard information about energy efficiency, energy consumption and other resources during use, thus enabling citizens to choose more efficient products in order to reduce their energy consumption.
The energy classes defined in the legislation in force A (A+, A++ and A+++) on the labels of products on the market will be changed. The new European Union regulation on energy labeling defines a new comparative scale for energy classes from the most efficient A to the least efficient G.
Suppliers and traders will fulfill the obligations defined in this legal initiative regarding the placement or display of labels, brands or symbols in accordance with these characteristics.
In addition to information about the product’s energy consumption, labels can also provide specific data on other relevant usage features, such as the product’s noise emissions or water consumption.
State Market Surveillance Inspectorate will also be responsible for inspecting the implementation of primary and secondary legislation in the field of energy labeling for products with an energy impact.
