Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Serbia, Miloš Vučević met with the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade, Aleksandar Harchenko.
During the meeting, Vučević thanked the Russian Federation for “help in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. He emphasized that Serbia’s goal is to maintain the status of a military neutral state.
According to the announcement, the current security situation in Kosovo and in the region was also discussed in this meeting.
The Russian ambassador also held a meeting with the head of the so-called office for Kosovo in the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic. Petkovic has expressed to the Russian diplomat his concerns about the security of the Serbs in Kosovo. He claims that Serbs are under constant threat from Albin Kurti’s government.
Serbia continues to maintain close political and military ties with Russia, even though the latter has committed aggression in Ukraine.
Serbia is the only country in Europe that has not imposed sanctions on Russia. While international organizations have raised concern about the pressure being put on Vučić ‘s critics, just like Putin’s critics in Russia.
