Journalist’s attackers in Kosovo sentenced to two years in prison

The Basic Court in Pristina on Thursday announced a guilty verdict for the three accused for the attack on the journalist Valon Syla, sentencing them to two years in prison. They have been convicted for the criminal offense of “slight bodily injury”.

Valon Syla was attacked in the Bregu i Diellit neighborhood in Pristina, in December 2020, shortly after leaving a television studio, writes REL.

He had said on his Facebook account that he was attacked because of some critical posts about some religious leaders.

The time spent in detention and house arrest, from April 14 to December 7, 2023, will also be credited to the convicts L.D, K.H and O.H.

“The measure of house arrest has been stopped for the accused, while they are obliged to pay all the costs of the procedure individually; in the name of the judicial lump sum to pay the amount of 200 euros, while the amount of one hundred and 100 euros is to be paid to the Fund for the Compensation of Crime Victims”, announced the court.
