The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has stated that the pact with the Albanian counterpart Edi Rama is in full compliance with the law.
During her speech in the parliamentary communications room as part of the European Council meeting, Meloni said that the pact for migrants is an important tool to fight traffickers to allow entry to European territory only for those who have the right to international protection.
According to foreign media, she said that it is a pity that Prime Minister Edi Rama has been attacked by Italian politics, only because he has helped Italy.
“For some on the left, helping Italy is a sin. It is unfortunate that many of the dissenting voices have come from Italy, where Rama has been attacked from many quarters for helping Italy. It is unfortunate and surprising that there have been rumors of a possible expulsion of the Albanian prime minister from PSE, apparently for some left-wing Italians helping Italy is a sin.
The pact is generating genuine interest, with all due respect to those at home and in the EU who want only to destroy any attempt. Let them keep destroying and we will keep building and Italians will keep seeing the change.
The pact with Albania is in full compliance with the law. Italy’s agreement with Albania is destined to become an important tool to fight traffickers, to allow entry into European territory only for those who have the right to international protection.
There is ongoing dialogue with the EU Commission on the agreement to confirm the commitment to full compliance with EU law, national and international law. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this in the Chamber’s communique within the framework of the European Council meeting on December 14 and 15.
